The project is implemented by a consortium consisting of:
- KGHM Cuprum – Research and Development Center (leader),
- University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, and
- Geotronics Dystrybucja Sp. z o. o.
The aim of the project was to develop an innovative system for precise monitoring of deformations and dynamic impacts based on low-cost GNSS and IMU sensors. The system consists of measuring devices, telecommunications and IT solutions.
The product developed as a result of the implementation provides a wide measurement range, enabling monitoring of changes in the terrain surface in terms of slowly changing deformations and dynamic displacements. The flexibility of the solution also enables monitoring of engineering facilities.
As part of the project, industrial research and development work was carried out, which enabled the development of a multi-sensor measurement station and the creation of software for observing and managing the system.
As part of the work, a network of research stations was built, consisting of multi-sensor measurement stations developed in the project. Measurement campaigns were carried out, during which data was collected enabling validation of the developed system and determining its final technical parameters, as well as testing the solutions used. The measurement results obtained in the system allow for the determination of surface deformation indicators, important from the point of view of the safety of infrastructure on the ground surface, as well as parameters of dynamic interactions. The low-cost sensors used in the developed system allowed for a significant reduction in the production costs of monitoring stations, making it possible to optimally adjust the density of deployment in the field to the nature of the observed phenomenon.
The results of the work were introduced into the business activities of Geotronics Dystrybucja Sp. z o. o., by starting production and introducing the ready-made system for sale.
